Whether for draught or riding, whether for work or pleasure, the knowledge that animals can be true partners (and not only food) of men is not yet commonly understood in many parts of Africa. Our little horse-drawn sulky was the first to be build and used in Kenya, although this idea is quite commonplace in western African countries and even Ethiopia. Our ox-drawn fleet is the only true “four-wheel-type” of vehicle available to us, most of the transportation done within the farm is by this means, and even severe flooding (up to one metre high) will not stop our oxen. As “seeing is believing” our extensive use of animal power will hopefully help to promote this idea to fellow farmers and the wider public in general.
